Alpha Testing:

  • What it is: Alpha testing is the first phase of testing a software product.

  • When it happens: It occurs in-house, usually after the software is developed but before it's released to external users.

  • Who conducts it: It’s done by the development team or internal testers.

  • Purpose: The goal is to find and fix bugs and ensure the software works as intended.

Beta Testing:

  • What it is: Beta testing follows alpha testing and involves releasing the software to a limited group of external users.

  • When it happens: It occurs after alpha testing, typically when the software is feature-complete but still needs feedback.

  • Who conducts it: Real users outside the company participate in this phase.

  • Purpose: The goal is to identify any remaining issues, gather user feedback, and improve the product before the final release.
